Comfortable Vision:
How does a No-Glare lens Improve Visual Acuity? No-Glare lenses improve visual acuity up to 2 lines on the Snellen Chart or Big E Chart - for some patients. For a wearer, this can be the difference between seeing with 20/20 vision with No-Glare lenses or up to 20/40 vision with ordinary lenses. This is because premium No-Glare lenses are superior at reducing glare, and resisting scratches, smudges, and dirt and thus allow the wearer to see better, look better, and feel better. 80% of what children learn is through their eyes. Good vision is an important learning tool for children. Yet, glare from classroom lighting, whiteboards and computers can interfere with a childs learning. No-Glare lenses eliminate visual fatigue and headaches associated with glare so children stay focused on their education.

Nighttime Driving:
Did you know that wearing No-Glare lenses while driving at night gives you:
And that is why 70% of wearers prefer No-Glare lenses for comfortable and safer nighttime driving. As light decreases, so does your ability to differentiate objects and recover from glare. This becomes especially difficult in situations such as night driving. Crizal® No-Glare lenses allow you more opportunity to drive safely by improving contrast, visual acuity, fields of vision and reaction time. No-Glare lenses allow the wearer to recover up to 5 seconds faster to full vision after being exposed to extreme glare such as headlights. In a study conducted with Highway Patrol troopers, 89% of troopers chose No-Glare lenses over ordinary lenses as their overall preferred lens for glare reduction. How AR Works:
No-Glare lenses, or Anti-Reflective (AR) lenses, work through the concept of wave theory. Most people know that light travels through space in a wavelike motion. The distance between the crests and troughs of the wave is called the wavelength. Visible light has wavelengths ranging from approximately 380 nanometers (violet light) to 780 nanometers (red light). No-Glare lenses reduce reflections through a process called destructive interference. Two light waves that are opposing wavelenths will cancel each other. Depending upon the refractive index of the material- and the angle at which light strikes the lens- a certain amount of light will reflect from the lens surface without an anti-reflective coating. A layer of the anti-reflective coating will create an additional reflection on the lens surface. This secondary reflection is created in opposition to the reflection (destructive interference) resulting in the elimination of the reflection. |

Crizal AR FAQs |
|
What are Crizal® No-Glare lenses? Crizal is a No-Glare lens that provides many additional benefits beyond reducing glare, such as ease of cleaning and resisting scratches for the wearer. You can combine a Crizal lens with another type of lens. For example, a Varilux® progressive (or no-line bifocal) lens can come with Crizal plus Transitions, a lens whose color adapts according to light. Crizal is sometimes referred to as a treatment or coating.
How do I identify Crizal No-Glare lenses? Crizal No-Glare lenses should be dispensed with a Crizal Certificate of Authenticity and a Crizal cleaning cloth to ensure receipt of genuine Crizal lenses. If you did not receive both of these items, you should discuss this with your Eyecare Professional. In addition to these items, all No-Glare lenses possess slight reflectant color qualities which assist in identifying the brand. To see this reflective color, take the eyeglasses off and hold them at an angle under a light such that a reflection will appear on the lenses. Crizal lenses have 2 colors: the most common is an aqua hue, but one product has a blue hue.
Do Crizal lenses help reduce glare from computer screens? Yes. Crizal lenses will help eliminate the annoying reflections caused by computer screens and overhead lights that cause eyestrain and fatigue. Crizal lenses will reduce night time glare caused by headlights/taillights for safer and more comfortable driving. In fact, Crizal wearers are three times more satisfied with Crizal No-Glare lens verses regular lens wearers to help eliminate the symptoms associated with extended screen viewing such as tired eyes, watery eyes, blurred vision, and headaches.
Are Transitions available with Crizal? Transitions® lenses are available with Crizal. Please discuss this option with your Eyecare Professional.
Does Crizal have UV protection? There is no UV protection from the Crizal treatment itself; UV protection would be a function of the lens material to which the Crizal treatment is applied. Every lens material offers some UV Protection except plastic and glass. To see the full Crizal Lens Availability, see the top of this page.. Your Eyecare Professional, with the knowledge of what material was used to prepare your lenses, can advise you on the specific UV protection for your current lenses.
Are Crizal No-Glare lenses heavier or thicker than regular lenses? No, the Crizal No-Glare treatment is very thin thinner than a strand of hair! The actual thickness and weight of your glasses is a function of the lens material chosen, your frames, and your prescription.
How often should I replace my lenses and have my eyes checked? Your eyesight and vision are critical to your overall health and well-being. It is recommended that you have your eyes examined once a year. When your prescription expires, consult your Eyecare Professional on the best option for you.
Can I get Crizal on sunglasses? Yes, Crizal has a special technology specifically designed for sunglasses called Crizal SunShield™. You will benefit from sunglasses that are scratch resistant and easier to clean. For the ultimate sun protection solution, always recommend Crizal SunShield with Xperio® Polarized sun lenses
